CHAMOS
Amsterdam DJ duo of Kurdish and Dutch roots, fusing zurna, flutes and West Asian melodies with afro house and club rhythms.
About
CHAMOS is a DJ and production duo made up of Shalouw and Guido, friends since they met in their first year of high school in Arnhem in 2005. Shalouw's family came to the Netherlands from the Kurdish region of Iraq in 2000; Guido grew up in Elst, a village between Arnhem and Nijmegen. The name means "friends", and Amsterdam is their home base. Their sound puts traditional Kurdish instruments such as the zurna and flute over electronic drums and percussion, moving between raw folk passages and club drops. Early edits leaned on dancehall, afrobeat and Brazilian baile funk; more recent work leans further into West Asian melodies with house and afro house grooves. A run of club edits built their following, and their 2025 EP From Erbil To Amsterdam carried Chopi Riddim, Klash Riddim and an officially cleared edit of Naser Razzazi's Berzî Berzî. Their newer tracks include Wara and Kevokim, and their Hawrave EP was previewed at Skatecafe during Amsterdam Dance Event 2026 after a sold-out Paradiso show earlier that year. They have played Fusion Festival, and toured London and Copenhagen. On Friday, October 23, 2026 they play Mansion Nightclub in Vancouver, with doors at 10 PM, 19+.
